Over the past 26 years, this Baltimore Washington Ride for Kids event has raised $3,800,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). The PBTF is the largest non-governmental source of funding for research, treatment, and family support for children with brain tumors.Tom Chicca, in our Rockville office, has been a member of the Baltimore Washington Ride for Kids Task Force for the past twelve years and a Task Force Leader for the past six years. This Task Force spends the year planning and organizing by working with individuals, clubs, and dealers to encourage fundraising.This year’s event raised over $83,000 for the Foundation. Soltesz, Inc. is a much appreciated contributor to the event. We were fortunate to have three “Stars” and their families attend the event. The Stars are pediatric brain tumor survivors. Summer started with an appreciation gift for all employees with a summer shirt. The Rockville office enjoyed the last bit of summer on September 8, 2017 with a huge BBQ. Lennar has been successfully building and selling new homes within the St. Charles community since 2004, but with this recent acquisition, will now also take over the role of owner and developer of substantially all of the remaining planned unit development.The builder recently purchased 2,400-acres within the St. Charles master-planned community located in Waldorf, Maryland. The acquired property allows for residential, commercial, and industrial development, including 7,000 home sites yet to be developed. This was a rare opportunity for Lennar to buy a large master-planned community. The development includes neighborhoods designed to high standards, enhanced community amenities, and several new public school sites. The Bellevue Back to School Bash is a community event that prepares Ward 8 students for a successful school year by providing free school supplies, as well as access to educational and wellness services. Jim Soltesz, President & CEO of Soltesz, Inc. was invited to attend the Annual Labquest/FDA Science Technology Awards Event held at FDA in White Oak on August 2, 2017. Representatives from FDA, Congress and Montgomery County were on hand for this special annual event. Following the Science Awards presentation, Labquest, a major proponent for FDA and VIVA White Oak, held their meeting to receive a summary from Jonathan Genn of Global LifeSci Development Corporation regarding the VIVA project. Jim Soltesz updated the group on the filing of the Sketch Plan, the first stage in the development of VIVA White Oak. Dan Silvestri has steered Soltesz through times of great change from the early days of drawing by hand as a draftsman to utilizing top technology as Senior Designer II today. Over the past 34 years, he has experienced many defining moments and major developments at Soltesz.Using your talents and leaving a legacy is something we all desire to do and Dan has succeeded in doing this. One of the nice things about Dan is that he is essentially the same person who joined Soltesz all those years ago.Dan is retiring from Soltesz after 34 years of service, but there is a new world of business, leisure, and voluntary opportunities waiting.
