PEPCO Capital Grid – Harvard to Champlain 230kV Feeder

Soltesz was selected as the main design consultant to undertake the surveying and civil design tasks for the preparation of construction documents for the PEPCO Underground Transmission line extending from Harvard Street to Champlain Street in Washington, DC as part of the greater Capital Grid Project. PEPCO is proposing to install two new underground 230kV transmission feeders. The feeders will connect the two substations, which are currently being rebuilt. The length of the proposed conduit route is approximately 1.3 miles. The project has an in-service date of January 1, 2021.

Drawing upon the team’s extensive experience in utilities and direct workings with PEPCO, Soltesz has successfully coordinated and performed each task order, providing engineering design and surveying services within the provided deadlines. Among the task orders assigned to Soltesz include underground transmission design, substation concept plans, substation feasibilities studies, and design and approvals for maintenance access roads. Within those task orders, Soltesz has performed alternative route analysis, surveying, sediment and erosion control plans, roadside tree permits, utility plans, landscaping and lighting plans, stormwater management design, ESD, entitlement and zoning research, permitting efforts, budget cost estimates, and as-built information.
