Imagine Andrews Public Charter School

As part of a design-build team, Soltesz completed the civil design of Imagine Andrews Public Charter School, a new facility at Andrews Air Force Base in Camps Springs, Maryland. As a cooperative venture between Imagine Schools, Joint Base Andrews, and the Prince George’s County Public School System, the school provides a challenging learning environment for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. This Design-Build project was for a 35,500 square-foot facility on a site that was previously used for base housing. The existing structures and infrastructure were demolished and redeveloped to address current needs for a school. Given the redevelopment of the site, the project required a design team with expertise in feasibility investigations, MDE permitting, and the latest environmental regulations.

Soltesz successfully provided site civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and permitting services to address the many needs of the project. Soltesz conducted feasibility investigations to determine the suitability of the site relative to the physical features and associated construction costs, provisions for adequate utility service and access, and the impact of the project relative to drainage, traffic, and other concerns of the community. Soltesz’s services were provided from preliminary design through construction documents. The new facility marks a significant quality of life improvement for military families living in the 1,600 on-base homes. The project was completed on time and within budget.
