On Sunday, September 24, 2017, the 26th Annual Baltimore Washington Ride for Kids was held at Turf Valley Resort with over 230 participants and volunteers in attendance. Over the past 26 years, this Baltimore Washington Ride for Kids event has raised $3,800,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). The PBTF is the largest non-governmental source of funding for research, treatment, and family support for children with brain tumors.
Tom Chicca, in our Rockville office, has been a member of the Baltimore Washington Ride for Kids Task Force for the past twelve years and a Task Force Leader for the past six years. This Task Force spends the year planning and organizing by working with individuals, clubs, and dealers to encourage fundraising.
This year’s event raised over $83,000 for the Foundation. Soltesz, Inc. is a much appreciated contributor to the event. We were fortunate to have three “Stars” and their families attend the event. The Stars are pediatric brain tumor survivors. Gretchen Stenger is the reigning Miss Washington County Outstanding Teen for 2017 and a brain tumor survivor since she was five years old. In addition, Howard County Executive, Allan Kittleman, attended the event and helped send off the bikes in the morning for the police escorted ride.
