Soltesz participates in Earth Day with the Clean Water Partnership

Earth Day 2018 at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park (BWP) in Bladensburg, Maryland.

Soltesz is proud to have participated in this year's Earth Day on April 21st with Corvias and the Clean Water Partnership to help clean up the Bladensburg Waterfront Park (BWP) in Bladensburg, Maryland. This annual clean-up is the largest community-wide volunteer event held to benefit the Anacostia River in Prince George’s County and in the Washington, DC region. More than 2000 volunteers help to clean the river, its banks, parks and trails. Big thanks to Soltesz employees Dana Ng, Ivan Zapata, Anthony Aquino and Colin Turgeon!

5th Annual Real Estate Symposium, a Huge Hit!

This annual event features a panel of highly-esteemed leaders and promises to bring together individuals from the local real estate industry and business community. This year’s panel led by the event hosts, Jim Soltesz, PE, President & CEO of Soltesz and Larry Rosenblum, CPA, Partner with Grossberg, featured the Honorable Governor Larry Hogan as well as Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett. The elected officials shared their thoughts on current and forthcoming development opportunities within the State of Maryland and Montgomery County and their positive economic impact on the region. Governor Larry Hogan spoke highly of Maryland’s economic development and progress, citing Maryland as a leader in innovation with the first transit Public-Private Partnership for the Purple Line underway. The Governor spoke further of Maryland’s overall progress, highlighting how the State has seen sustained growth under his leadership steadily for the past four years, including a balanced budget and playing a critical role in the region’s transportation infrastructure.Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett spoke of the successful partnership reached by Montgomery County and Maryland with Marriott and cited that as a true example of the commitment that Montgomery County has to business and the real estate community.Jim Soltesz and Larry Rosenblum introduced the Governor and the County Executive with heart-felt stories of their dedication to their offices and their jurisdictions. This is the fifth symposium co-hosted by Soltesz and Grossberg, attracting over 300 attendees.

Soltesz Holds Annual Dinner and 38th Anniversary Celebration

Soltesz held its Annual Company Dinner at the Sunset Room in National Harbor, Maryland.

Soltesz employees and their guests enjoyed an evening of cocktails, great views, and dinner catered by world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. Throughout the evening, Soltesz celebrated employee milestones, project highlights, company goals and initiatives, as well as activities within the local community.Soltesz has a deep relationship with the National Harbor development having provided site civil services to a number of projects there, including the entire development starting in 1997.Soltesz looks forward to continued success in 2018, as the firm and its employees celebrate 38 years of providing civil engineering, survey, landscape and environmental services to the Mid-Atlantic Region.Check out the video!

Kenn Dunn hosts annual MBIA breakfast 2018

Ken Dunn, RLA and Managing Member of Soltesz’s Lanham office, hosted the annual Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA) Prince George’s County Chapter Breakfast on March 26, 2018 in Greenbelt, Maryland. Ken serves as MBIA’s Prince George’s County Chairman. MBIA members and non-members including builders, developers, consultants and regulators were encouraged to share their thoughts on how to work together to create a better Prince George’s County over coffee and breakfast at this morning’s event. The event was well received, with nearly 150 people in attendance. Several notable guests attended the event including Senator Chris Van Hollen; Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III; Dannielle M. Glaros, County Council Chair; and Betty Hewlett, Vice-Chair of the Maryland – National Capital Park and Planning Commission; in addition to several Council Members Pictured above: Ken Dunn presenting an award to Katina Shoulars, award recipient of MBIA’s Quality of Life Award, which is given for demonstrating a genuine concern for the quality of life in the County. The recipient fosters an atmosphere of partnership with the industry.

Soltesz Legacy Continues in 2018

As a key member of the CleanWater Partnership team, Soltesz has helped deliver 2000-acres worth of credits towards the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit compliance requirements for the benefit of Prince George’s County.

Muirkirk pond was a significant individual project within the program. Soltesz identified the opportunity, determined the credit, obtained the landowner permission, designed and permitted the pond, while delivering the project on time and within budget. Projects like Muirkirk were identified across the County and have been a key element of MS4 CleanWater Partnership initiative, an innovative Public-Private Partnership approach to the success of the Prince George’s County requirements that are managed and led by Corvias Solutions.

The La Plata Rotary Club held it's biggest event of the year on October 1, 2017.

The Lobster Festival has taken place every year since the inception of the club in 1975. Participants enjoyed amazing food, live music, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and much more.Dave Cooksey, Senior Vice President in our Waldorf office, has been a member of the Rotary Club for many years.
